Text message opt-in
VoiceLynk takes pickup orders for restaurants by phone and through a chat on the restaurant's website. Diners can choose to get texts from VoiceLynk about the orders they place through VoiceLynk: an order confirmation, an optional secure payment link, and a notice when the order is ready. A diner who chooses to split the bill also gets a link to the split-payment page for that order. Texts are sent by VoiceLynk, from VoiceLynk's own number, and every message starts with "VoiceLynk:". Consent is given to VoiceLynk only; it is not shared with or used by any other business. Texting is optional and never required to order. We never send marketing or promotional messages.

Method 1: website sign-up form
Anyone can choose their text preference at voicelynk.io/text-updates. Texting is entirely optional: the mobile number field is optional, the consent box is unchecked by default and is not required, the form submits whether or not the box is checked, and a "No thanks, skip texts" option is shown next to the button. Declining has no effect on ordering. Only a person who checks the box and enters a number is signed up. The form shows this exact wording next to the box, with links to our Terms and Privacy Policy:
Yes, text me about my orders. I agree to receive order texts from VoiceLynk for orders I place through VoiceLynk: order confirmations, pickup updates and optional payment links. Message frequency varies, usually 1-3 msgs per order. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
A confirmation text follows: "VoiceLynk: You're subscribed to order texts from restaurants you order from through VoiceLynk. Usually 1-3 msgs per order. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out."

Method 2: phone orders (spoken consent)
When a diner calls a participating restaurant, the VoiceLynk assistant takes the order. Before placing it, the assistant reads this question word for word and waits for an answer:
Before I place your order, may VoiceLynk, the ordering service taking this call, text you about this order and future orders you place through VoiceLynk at the number you're calling from? VoiceLynk will send an order confirmation, pickup updates, and if you'd like, a secure payment link. Message frequency varies, usually one to three texts per order. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out anytime. Texts are optional and not required to order, and our terms and privacy policy are at voicelynk dot io. Is that okay?
- If the diner says yes, the assistant confirms: "Great, you're signed up for order texts from VoiceLynk."
- If the diner says no, or doesn't answer, nothing is texted. The order number is given out loud instead.
- The answer and its time are saved with the order and the call transcript.
Method 3: website ordering chat (checkbox)
On a restaurant's website ordering chat, diners can open "Text me order updates (optional)", enter a mobile number, and check a box that is unchecked by default. This is exactly what they see:
Live example: voicelynk.io/order/southside-bar-and-grille-kansas-city (tap "Text me order updates (optional)" below the chat). After saving, the chat confirms: "You're signed up for order texts at [number]."
